To Great Bardfield Circular Walk – approx 7.5km

- Leave Dynes Cottage and turn left.
- Take the first right on the private road signed to Robjohns Farm & Lake House.

- Continue along the road until the end when it takes a 90 degree left turn, continue straight across the field to a style.
- Over the style. When you emerge from the trees turn left along the edge of the field.

- Walk along the edge of the field and then follow the footpath sign to the left, down between two fenced fields.
- At the bottom you will cross a private road leading to a farm. Go straight over the road and the footpath bends to the right behind the tree.

- Follow the footpath path past a large metal barn. The path can get quite overgrown in this section so watch out for nettles!
- Over the bridge.
- Follow the path.
- Over the second bridge.
- Go left along the edge of the field, then follow the path to the left and over a further bridge.
- Walk towards the 5 bar gate and let yourself through, closing it behind you.
- You’ll see an old water mill on your right and a lovely weeping willow growing next to the mill pond on your left.

- Go past the mill pond and follow the path to the right.
- At the end of the path you will go left and follow the stream until you find a bridge on your right.
- The bridge leads to Bridge Street in Great Bardfield.
Stay a while and enjoy the two lovely pubs in Great Bardfield, the Bell and The Vine and the Tea Room.
- When heading back, walk down Bridge Street, over the bridge and take a left onto Beslyn’s Lane.
- Follow the lane for approximately 1km. On your left you will see Cooks’s Lane, continue straight on Beslyn’s Lane and then shortly afterwards turn right onto a track that leads onto a field.
- Follow the track to the left and then continue straight.
- This track will bring you into Finchingfield.
- When you reach the main road, cross over and turn right.
- Just after the post office there is a cut through footpath on your left.
- Go over the bridge and when you emerge from the cut, turn right on to The Pightle.
- At the top, turn right and walk past the school. Continue approximately half a mile down Mill Lane to Dyne’s Cottage.
